Big, dim beaks and comparatively hairless, light-weight-colored, medial facial regions distinguish macaws. At times, the facial patch is smaller sized in some species and restricted to a yellow patch around the eyes and also a 2nd patch close to the beak foundation inside the Hyacinth Macaw members.
